New video with PhD researcher Gabriella Bishop on pollinator conservation in farmland

22 August 2025

SHOWCASE PhD researcher Gabriella Bishop from Wageningen University has presented her thesis in a new short video, offering insights into how we can better conserve pollinators in agricultural landscapes. Her research explores both field-level interventions and landscape-scale strategies, showing how farmers and policymakers alike can play a role in protecting these vital species.

In the video, Gabriella reflects on her journey from testing practical measures like lupin planting and hedgerows, to identifying the importance of semi-natural habitats covering 15–18% of farmland. Her findings underline the critical need for both biodiversity-friendly practices on farms and supportive policy frameworks at regional and European levels.
