Have you ever wondered what you could do to save the bees? You can find the answer to this question in this short animated video created by SHOWCASE partner The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in collaboration with the AbejasSilvestres association.
Bees play a vital role in ecosystems worldwide as essential pollinators, facilitating the reproduction of flowering plants and ensuring the production of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Their pollination services are crucial for maintaining biodiversity, ecosystem stability and agricultural productivity, contributing significantly to food security and the economy. However, in recent years, there has been a concerning decline in bee populations globally, due to factors such as habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, disease and parasites. This decline poses a significant threat to bee species, highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect these invaluable pollinators.
The video presents nine actions that anybody can do to prevent bee disappearance, such as creating networks of amicable places where bees can thrive, refraining from overgrazing grass and plants, leaving soil areas bare so bees can for their nests, planting fruit trees of traditional variety to create shelter, buildings nests and more!
